Meryl Summers, originally from Boston Massachusetts, has been playing the bassoon for 12 years. She is currently studying in Germany on a Fulbright Grant with Gustavo Núñez, the principle bassoonist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. She has recently graduated from Northwestern University, where she studied with Christopher Millard. She received a double degree in music and environmental policy. As part of her studies, she spent a year studying music in Vienna with David Seidel as well as two summers working at Wrangell St. Elias National Park in Alaska. In 2008-2009, she performed as a regular member with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In the summer of 2009, she performed with the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox, Massachusetts. She has also participated in the Domaine Forget Music Festival for two summers.
